JASMINE FUHLBOHM
For 7 years, Jasmine has been an integral part of the Magpies family, starting her journey as a youthful 17 year old. What makes Magpies more than just a club for her is the profound sense of community, the familial atmosphere, and the meaningful relationships she has cultivated with both staff and patrons. Magpies, to Jasmine, is not merely an establishment; it’s a distinct culture.
Jasmine draws inspiration from her remarkable role model, her mother, whose strength shone through during a challenging time. Losing her partner (Jasmine’s father) to a heart attack when she was just 10 years old, she witnessed her mother’s resilience and hard work, principles that have become deeply ingrained in Jasmine. The loss of her father compelled her to mature quickly, instilling in her a drive to make a positive impact. Motivated by her personal journey, Jasmine has dedicated herself to a cause close to her heart. In response to her father’s passing, she tirelessly raised over $7,000 and heightened awareness about the crucial need for defibrillator machines. Her efforts reached various charities, organisations, and locations within the Mackay community that lacked access to this vital resource.
Jasmine’s pride lies in her career at Magpies, a journey that began as a barista and recently led to her appointment as the Duty Operations Manager at the remarkable age of 24. The pinnacle of her achievements was being honoured with the 2024 Mackay Young Citizen of the Year Award. For young women aspiring to carve their paths, Jasmine offers empowering advice: “It’s your life, and only you can steer it. Run your own race, and don’t get caught up with other people’s success. Everyone is different and capable of great things.”
