MAGPIES CRICKET CLUB

Magpies Cricket Club is one of Mackay’s oldest cricket clubs, existing for over 60 years. 

Magpies Cricket Club originally started out as two separate identities – Presbyterian Fellowship Association (PFA) and Farleigh Cricket Club where both clubs amalgamated in the early 1970’s. In 2011 the club celebrated it’s 50 year anniversary, when in 1961 PFA had attained A-Grade Status in the Mackay Cricket Association. Magpies Cricket Club embodies the strength and values that the club was founded on many years ago: fellowship, loyalty, active inclusion and competitiveness. The club is proud to provide programs for boys, girls, men and women of all ages and abilities.  The club boasts the best facilities in the Mackay Cricket Community with 4 practice nets and a quality turf playing oval.

MAGPIES CRICKET CLUB RAFFLE

One of the ways that Magpies Sporting Club provide support for Magpies Cricket Club is through a raffle program which enables Magpies Cricket Club the opportunity to raise much needed funds to assist them in reaching their goals.  6 - 7:30pm every Wednesday Magpies Cricket Club sells raffle tickets throughout Magpies Sporting Club to win meat trays.  We appreciate any support that you may be able to provide for Magpies Cricket Club and all funds raised from the raffles go directly to Magpies Cricket Club.

CRICKET 4 EVERY 1

Cricket 4 Every 1 is a joint venture between Magpies Cricket Club and the Mackay and District Special School, the inaugural program commenced in the 18/19 cricket season.  Cricket 4 Every 1 gives uniquely abled Mackay children a chance to play cricket in a safe, dignified, fun environment where participants learn the ability to adapt and gain the courage to succeed.  Each student is buddied with a mentor from Magpies Cricket Club and the sessions were overseen by 2 senior coaches.  The annual, 5 week program held at Magpies Sporting Club has been a massive success ‘Parent feedback has been fantastic with some parents asking to extend the program longer’ said Darren Smith – General Manager of Magpies Sporting Club.  The inaugural event was also a fundraiser for Mackay and District Special School raising over $15,000 to get a new Playground.
