Magpies Sporting Club are beyond thrilled to spill the beans and reveal our much anticipated redevelopment plans. Brace yourselves for a spectacular transformation that will redefine the Magpies experience. It all starts 2025. Enjoy these external renders of the club, whilst we continue working with BSBN architects to fine tune the interiors.
Within the first 2 stages of the 3-stage development, we will be moving the reception entrance to the eastern precinct of the club, including a porte cochere all weather pick up and drop off zone. A new, stylish café and bar doubles in size from the existing space, boasting a seamless indoor/outdoor transition as you dine and relax overlooking our lush sporting fields. The much-needed restaurant refurbishment will accommodate more dining members with a new food offering. We haven’t forgotten the Pee Wee’s with a fantastic new indoor area triple the size of The Nest currently. The Players Lounge will double in size, as we create a more spacious, luxurious space for player comfort, complimented with an elegant gaming bar, keno lounge and Designated Outdoor Smoking Areas.
For our ever growing team, which is currently at 140 employees and expected to increase upon redevelopment completion, we will be completely rebuilding our administration and staff facilities on the upper level of the club.
The final stage of the redevelopment includes a new look sportsbar doubling the seating area, featuring a new section for the viewing of live televised sporting events as well as a brand new bar giving us the ability to offer an increased beverage offering range. A new deck, dedicated outdoor smoking area, accessible ramp, and landscaping will complete the redevelopment.

Over the past month, the Club has progressed with early works, including relocating administration buildings into temporary positions, establishing the builder’s compounds, opening new pedestrian access walkways, and welcoming Ergon on-site to install the new club transformer.
In the coming month, the project moves into the main construction phase. Initial works will focus on partial demolition of the roof structure near the main entrance, along with significant upgrades to both the internal and external Sky’s Function Venue stairways. We’ve also set up a new designated smoking area next to The Deck. We appreciate your patience as we continue working to minimise disruption for our members and visitors.
We’re also pleased to share that the Club has invested in a new transport buggy to assist patrons from their cars directly to the Club entrance. This service is operating daily from 11am to 9pm.

Magpies Sporting Club Board of Directors recently met with the Woollam Constructions team for a behind-the-scenes look at the incredible progress being made on our club redevelopment.
With the wet season now behind us, construction is advancing at a great pace. From stunning new fixtures in our function area, to the carefully selected driveway paving, we`re beginning to see our vision come to life right before our eyes.

Behind the Build – March Update 🚧
Renovations at Magpies are moving ahead, with dimensioning works in the car park near the Sportsbar set to begin soon. This was planned for early March, but recent wet weather may push things back slightly.
While this work is underway (approx. one week), entry via the Sportsbar side and that section of the car park will be temporarily closed. You’ll still be able to access the club via main reception as normal. Our complimentary buggy service is still running daily from 11 am–9 pm to help get you to and from your car. Safety is our priority, so wet weather may affect availability at times.
General Manager, Lee, is in daily communication with the Woollam Construction team, all working together to keep the project on track👷♂️ We’ll keep the updates coming as progress continues. Once the new areas are under roof, we’ll be full steam ahead with the next stages!

🚗 We’ve officially opened our brand-new carpark extension!
With over 100 extra spaces, it’s now even easier for our members, guests, and affiliated club members to come together at Magpies Sporting Club.
This afternoon, we were joined by Federal Member for Dawson @andrewwillcoxmp, Member for Mackay Nigel Dalton, our staff, Board members, and affiliated club members for the ribbon-cutting, followed by nibbles to celebrate.

🌱🚗 Our carpark extension is almost ready! Thanks to the great work by Fergus Builders, we’re expecting it to open early next week.
This project has added over 100 extra car parks on the southeast side of the club, between the AFL/Cricket Amenities Building and the Cricket Nets.
A big thank you to our amazing groundsmen, who have worked tirelessly behind the scenes; moving things around, creating space, and coordinating fresh grass and beautiful trees to line the new carparks.
