MAGPIES COMMUNITY PROGRAM

Magpies Sporting Club is dedicated to weaving a strong fabric in the Mackay community. Magpies Community program, a Magpies Sporting Club initiative – aims to support schools, sporting clubs, charities and non-profit organisations within the greater Mackay region by way of cash donations, raffle items, gift cards, room hire, use of fields or facilities and professional assistance.  Applications for assistance can be made by completing the request form further down this page.

Magpies Sporting Club were honored to present Calen District State College a cheque for $2,000 today, going towards their Calen Crushers Human Powered Vehicle (HPV) Team.  The team will compete at 8 race venues around Queensland in the vehicle that they have assembled themselves with no assistance. Our sponsorship of $2,000 will provide necessary funds to purchase the mandated safety equipment that the students will need to compete in the race: helmets, gloves, safety glasses, hydration packs and more. This week we welcome Brianna from Mackay North State High School as a work experience student, assisting with her practical learning within the Hospitality industry.

We have just matched Magpies Football Clubs donation of $650 to the Salam family.  On the 8th January their 2 year old daughter Sophie Salam was diagnosed with Acute Leukemia.  Sophie and her Mum were flown from Mackay to Brisbane immediately so Sophie could commence treatment.  The Salam family have supported Magpies for some time and it's now our turn to return the favour.
