Magpies Community program, a Magpies Sporting Club initiative – aims to support schools, sporting clubs, charities and non-profit organisations within the greater Mackay region by way of donations: raffle items, gift cards, room hire, use of fields or facilities or professional assistance. Applications to request a donation can be made by completing the online application form below.

With every new membership Magpies Sporting Club donates $2 to one of four charities that the new members choose when filling out their membership application form. Each financial year Magpies Sporting Club offer charities the chance to be one of these four donation recipients for the next financial year. The chosen four charities will receive their cash donations based on how many new members select their charity on the membership forms for that financial year. Your charity can apply via our website, click on the button below.

We have several donation boxes throughout our club, brimming with generosity from our valued patrons who have contributed their small (or sometimes big) change. Four times a year (each quarter) we pass the spare change as an impactful donation to a worthy local charity. Want your charity to be the next beneficiary? Sonny Hutchinson is taking his golf game to the international stage with support from a $600 Magpies Community Grant.

Sisters Isabella and Dakota Daniel are making big waves in the pool, each achieving outstanding results at state and national level, and both supported through Magpies Community Grants.
Isabella qualified across every stroke for the Capricornia Region, competing in 50m, 100m, 200 IM and relays at the Queensland School Sport 10–12 Years Swimming Championships. She raced in nine events, made four finals, and placed 8th in the 200 IM, 5th in the 50 Backstroke, and 6th in both the 100 Backstroke and 100 Butterfly.
Dakota competed at the 2025 Australian Age Championships after earning multiple medals and seven national qualifying times at the Queensland Championships, an incredible effort for her first national meet. She raced seven events, placing 19th in the 400 IM, 18th in the 200 Fly, and achieving personal bests across the board.
With events like these costing families thousands in travel, accommodation, nomination fees and more, these grants help young athletes keep chasing their goals at the highest level.

🏏 Kiana Dunn received a $400 Magpies Community Grant in Q4 2025, and we were grateful to be able to help support her in her selection for the Queensland Under 19 School Sport team for a four-game series against NSW. Kiana trialled through Mackay & District and Capricornia before being chosen for Queensland, even after the state competition was cancelled due to a cyclone. Her costs included uniforms, carnival fees, flights, a rental car, and accommodation; expenses that grants help families manage. Kiana performed strongly, taking 1/21 off 4 overs in the one-day match, helping Queensland defeat NSW for the first time in three years, breaking their 13-game streak. Magpies Community Grants will return in 2026. #MagpiesCommunity #MagpiesCommunityGrants

🏐 Mackay State High School Volleyball Academy received a $700 Magpies Community Grant in Q4 2025 to support their new program developing student athletes and growing volleyball locally. The grant helps the school secure essential equipment like nets, balls, and training aids, and supports coaching and travel for competitions. Volleyball in Mackay faces unique challenges, with few local clubs and families often covering time and costs to enable participation. Grants like this help students access representative pathways and continue pursuing their sport. Magpies Community Grants will return in 2026 to support programs like this. #MagpiesCommunity #MagpiesCommunityGrants

⚽ Tarcisio Pritchard received a $250 Magpies Community Grant in the last quarter of 2025 to support his participation in the QRSS Futsal State Championships. Magpies Community Grants will return in 2026 to continue supporting local talent and community initiatives. #MagpiesCommunity #MagpiesCommunityGrants
