In May 2019 we celebrated the Grand Opening of the new amenities building at Sologinkin Oval, officially opened by Mackay Mayor Greg Williamson. This was our most ambitious and challenging project to date, costing in the vicinity of $2.5 million dollars, fully funded by Magpies Sporting Club with no government grants or assistance. The facilities have a strong focus on meeting the needs of female sporting participants including gender friendly change rooms with floor to ceiling showers, as well as a gym, ice baths and dedicated room to add spa’s. Four change rooms service the field, including individual change rooms for referees.

The facilities are of state competition standard, we consulted not only with our own stakeholders in Magpies Rugby League Club and Magpies Football Club, but with Queensland Rugby League and Football Queensland. The long time coming completion of the project lends itself to perfect timing, given Magpies Rugby League Club 100 year celebrations in 2019.

The design come from the desks of BSPN Architecture and had been 5 years in the making; the project was at first postponed due to the opportunity to buy back the club from the landlord in 2015. Magpies Sporting Club can now proudly boast that we not only have the best grounds, but the best sporting facilities in the region.
