THEN: In March 2001, Olympian Cathy Freeman was awarded Honorary Life Membership to Magpies Sporting Club - a proud moment in our Club’s history.

NOW: More than 20 years later, Cathy returned to Magpies to help celebrate another special piece of our history at the reunion of the 1976 Magpies U15s Premiership team.
With her brother Gavin part of the original side, Cathy joined the celebrations and handed out replica jerseys to the team as they reunited.

Once you’re part of the Magpies family, you’re part of our history forever!

Magpies U15s premiership team of 1976 reunited on The Deck to celebrate their unforgettable 6–5 grand final victory over Wests Tigers. The teammates came together to share stories, relive the good old days and celebrate a special chapter in Magpies Rugby League history.

It was extra special to welcome Olympian and Magpies Life Member Cathy Freeman, whose brother Gavin was part of the original team, as she helped hand out replica jerseys to the reunited players.
